Replace Leaking Pipes
Broken pipes and water leaks tend to pose a serious problem to many home owners. Given that the water being supplied by the pipes tends to be under immense pressure, any leak occurring in the supply chain will usually be accompanied by a lot of force. A simple look at the pressure in your pipes can tell you whether the pipe is leaning or not.
The very first thing you need to do is locate the valve which is responsible for controlling the residence’s water supply. According to LS Handyman Singapore, many of the pipes in use today are made of copper that has been soldered together with tees and elbows. It is also not uncommon to come across iron pipes, especially when dealing with old houses.
If you notice that the pipe water is dripping or staining your ceiling, then it means that the leak is located above. However, you should note that there are instances when water tends to travel some distance along a frame or joist before it starts staining the ceiling.
In case you do not notice drips or staining overhead, check the piping in the basement. To replace a leaking pipe, it will be important to ensure that you have a pipe repair clamp close by. The replacement process involves:
- Begin by shutting off the valve that is in charge of supplying water to the whole residence. This is especially important if you are yet to figure out where the leak is coming from.
- Follow the manufacturer instructions when applying the repair clamp. You will need to use it to bolt the clamp in the region where the sleeves are located. It is possible to prepare your own repair pipe using a C-clamp, pipe-sleeve clamp, or adjustable hose clamp.
- Take note that this is a temporary fix. You will need to call in a professional handyman to help you repair the section that has been damaged.
